Christy was an alumnus of Northgate High School class of 1986, Chico State University class of 1990 and San Mateo City College class of 1994 where she studied dental assisting, a career she worked in until 2017, when she became a licensed Realtor.  Her maiden name was Christine Lynn Richardson. She married Ashley John Mitchell in 1996 and had a son (Garrett Aubrey) in 2001. Sadly, she lost a hard fought battle with cancer in December 2021.

Soon after her death, Ash started the Christy Lynn Mitchell Foundation in her honor. You see, Christy’s secret dream was to “give away money” as she so easily put it. She wanted to be in a position to support worthy charities and encourage people to live a life of compassion and kindness.

Christy lived this sort of life. She was the kind of person who would walk into a room and identify the one person who really needed a friend and by the end of the night they would be best friends. She volunteered at Fieldhaven Feline Rescue and the American Cancer Society. She financially supported countless charities and causes.

She was always there for friends and family in need. As one of her high school friends wrote, “Christy Richardson was a rainbow, butterflies, hummingbirds, lovely melodies and everything else good in life. The world was just brighter, happier and better around her. She was one of the most wonderful and happiest people I have ever known.” And this showed in her smile, which lit up every room she ever entered.

When Christy started working in pediatric dentistry, her employer immediately recognized her ability to present kind confidence to the parents and calm warmth to the children, which are invaluable skills in this field. She was asked to be the patient ambassador for the practice.

Kindness and compassion were Christy’s superpowers, and she used them to affect the world around her in a positive way. She set a shining example of how we should all live our lives. We carry forth her spirit through this charitable foundation.

With kindness and compassion,

Ashley
